CIO Insights: Dr. Brian Herrick, Chief Information Officer, Cambridge Health Alliance
Brian Herrick MD is a graduate of Tufts University and completed his medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. He completed his residency at the University of Rochester in Family Medicine, a fellowship in Faculty Development at UCSF and a certificate in Biomedical Informatics from OHSU.
Brian is board certified in Clinical Informatics and has worked in the field since 2004 at the University of Rochester, University of California at San Francisco, Steward Health, and ultimately Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA). He was the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) from 2012 to 2018 and is currently the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at CHA. As CIO, he oversees Privacy, HIM, Security, Systems, Reporting, and all applications including Epic.
In his time at CHA, he has overseen the implementation of Epic, the attainment of many other regulatory programs including Meaningful Use, and has been involved in quality, safety, and provider efficiency initiatives. He has worked to improve the clinical decision support to support high quality clinical care. He has helped guide the organization through their ACO transformation and been an actively involved in evaluating new technologies to support value based care.
He is interested in health information exchange, value based care, and health care disparity in an electronic world.
