Macromedia Flash: Multimedia Authoring for the Web
Description
As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Macromedia Flash, we
will take a look back at the history and evolution of the powerful
multimedia application. We will take a tour of the application
itself, the basics of animation and interactive interfaces and
how Flash differs from other technologies such as Quicktime and
Javascript. We will explore how Flash can enhance a Web site’s
overall usability—and the issues it raises in the context of site
maintenance. Throughout the course of the discussion, we will be
looking in depth at case studies of good and bad Flash usage. By
the end of the discussion, attendees will have a thorough understanding
of what Flash is best used for and what it takes to incorporate
Flash into a thoughtfully designed Web site.
Speaker
Greg Rewis - Chief Web Technologies Evangelist, Macromedia (now
Adobe)
It is Greg's responsibility to be a public spokesperson for the
Macromedia web publishing suite of software and web application
development servers—as well as to represent the company's millions
of customers in an advocate's role on the product development teams.
Greg definitely knows what Macromedia's customers think: He spends
up to 200 days of the year "on the road" talking with customers;
giving product demonstrations at trade shows, seminars, and conferences;
and leading specialized advanced training sessions featuring the
Macromedia product line. When he is not racking up frequent flyer
miles, Greg enjoys life in the Arizona desert, playing golf, and
teaching his two sons the finer art of "relaxing in the pool."
