Initiatives - Claims Performance Metrics
Project Definition
When the Consortium's Operations Forum was started in December 2000, the first initiative that was chartered was the "Metrics Workgroup". The Metrics Workgroup consisted of a group of Massachusetts' payers and providers and their objective was to collaboratively develop a set of measurements that would accurately characterize the claims payment process. The Workgroup hoped that through consistent, accurate reporting of claims payment performance, payers and providers would stop "pointing fingers" and begin focusing on facts as a way to initiate problem solving.
