Keynote Address: Concierge Medicine-Meeting the Service and Quality Challenge
Steven R. Flier, MD, Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and
Physician with Personal Physicians HealthCare, P.C.
For a fixed annual fee, some physicians are now offering special services outside the
typical insurance payment model. Patients can receive better and more immediate access
to their doctor. What are the implications of this model for providers? For health plans?
For healthcare reform efforts? For access to care?
According to Dr. Flier,
" The healthcare system needs primary care,
but the economics of the system do not allow primary care clinicians to do what they do best.
Our model addresses those concerns, and we are excelling at it. "
Dr. Flier will address these issues as well as the role of health information
technology in concierge medicine.
