 Dr. Gordon Vineyard

Gordon C. Vineyard, MD has served with distinction as the Chairman of the Board of the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium for the past five years. He has also served the Massachusetts healthcare community throughout his career. He was CEO of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, and was Surgeon-in-Chief of Harvard Community Health Plan and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.

Dr. Vineyard has recently retired from the position of Interim CEO of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates after many years of active involvement with that institution, its predecessors, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Vineyard’s undergraduate education was at Yale University where he studied Electrical Engineering. He attended Harvard Medical School and had his general surgical training at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. In 1972 he joined the faculty practice at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Harvard Community Health Plan. He continued his active involvement with those institutions until his retirement in August, 2000.

Dr. Vineyard's practice interests included general surgery, renal transplantation, colon and rectal surgery and endocrine surgery. He was one of the early developers and promoters of colonoscopy and holds one patent in that area. He was Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

Administratively, Dr. Vineyard served 9 years as Surgeon-in-Chief of Harvard Community Health Plan/Harvard Pilgrim Health Care/Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and was Director of Surgical Specialties and Radiology prior to being appointed as Interim CEO. His professional interests include medical devices, health care administration and health care finance. He serves on the Board of Directors of three corporations involved in health care.

To recognize Dr. Vineyard for his contributions to the Consortium and to the community, during our Annual Conference on June 1st three esteemed representatives of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care/Harvard Vanguard and of the Consortium will make remarks.

Dr. Joseph Dorsey

Dr. Joseph Dorsey retired in June 2006 after a distinguished 40-year career, which includes helping establish the Harvard Community Health Plan. Most recently he was Chief of the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates Division of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as Medical Director of Harvard Vanguard’s Inpatient Programs.

Prior to holding this position he was Corporate Medical Director and later Senior Vice President of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and then President of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation. Dr. Dorsey’s other positions include Senior Medical Director of Harvard Community Health Plan, Chief of Medicine at HCHP Hospital, Chief of the Division of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s, and Medical Director of the Peter Bent Brigham Medical Group at HCHP.

He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, received a Masters in Medical Science from Dartmouth, an MD from Harvard, and an MPH from Yale. Dr. Dorsey’s awards include the Alfred Frechette Annual Award of the Massachusetts Public Health Association (1970), the Massachusetts Health Council Annual Achievement Award (2006), and the Boston Business Journal Lifetime Achievement Award (2006).


Dolores Mitchell

Dolores Mitchell

Dolores Mitchell is currently serving as Executive Director of the Group Insurance Commission, the agency that provides life, health, disability and dental and vision services to 265,000 State employees, retirees and their dependents. She has been in that position since 1987, serving in the administrations of Governors Dukakis, Weld, Cellucci, Swift, Romney, and now Governor Patrick. During the first Dukakis administration she served as Cabinet Coordinator, and for several months, as Secretary of Human Services. She has also served as the Boston Director of the Katharine Gibbs School, and has also worked as a consultant and legislative liaison for a number of organizations.

Mrs. Mitchell is a member of a number of professional and community organizations, including the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, of which she is a Director, the Massachusetts Healthcare Purchaser Group, of which she is currently the President, the Commonwealth Connector, of which she is an ex-officio member, the Board of the National Women's Political Caucus, of which she is Chair of the Political Planning Committee, the Greater Boston Big Sister Association, of which she is Board President, her local Democratic Town Committee, of which she is Vice President, the Leapfrog Group, and the National Academy for State Health Policy, the Massachusetts Coalition for the Prevention of Medical Errors, the Massachusetts Health Council, the Business Advisory Group of the E-Health Initiative, of which she is Co-Chair, and the E-Health Collaborative of which she is a Director.

Kathleen Reinhardt

As Director of Global Benefits at Analog Devices, Ms. Reinhardt is responsible for planning, development, and delivery of worldwide benefits strategies, policies, and programs for the organization. Since joining Analog Devices in 1984, Ms. Reinhardt has held various benefits management positions with responsibilities for health and welfare programs, retirement, and global benefit programs.

Ms. Reinhardt has over 20 years of experience in employee benefits and human resources management within the high technology industry, including prior positions at Prime Computer, Inc. and NEC Electronics. Ms. Reinhardt serves on the Board of Directors for a variety of local organizations, including the Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, the New England Employee Benefits Council, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. She also has served on a number of Boards, including the CIGNA Healthcare Quality Committee, the Massachusetts Healthcare Purchasers Group, and currently as Chair of the Health Care Committee of the Associated Industries of Massachusetts. Ms. Reinhardt received her BA in English at Bridgewater State College.
