Healthcare Security: National Trends and Operational Directives

Friday, February 18, 2005, 2005 - 9:00-11:00am
Massachusetts Health Data Consortium, Waltham, MA

Presented by     CHC Healthcare Solutions

Description

As in many industries, healthcare organizations across the country have been focusing more and more on IT Security, not only to reach their compliance objectives, but to achieve "best practices" in their security implementations and assure the security and availability of their clinical and business operations.

Healthcare IT professionals are now formalizing their Security Information Management (SIM) Programs to truly improve their overall IT security posture. As always, this program starts with a solid IT Risk Management Program that acts as the foundation for all IT Security initiatives, of which the first critical step is the performance of an IT Security Risk Assessment.

The next phase is trending toward a formalized Security Information Management Office that encompasses all facets of IT Security including Security Event Monitoring and Forensics, Patch/Vulnerability Management, IT Change Management, Identity Management, Regulatory Compliance and Business Continuity.

This approach allows healthcare organizations to comprehensively manage their IT Security resulting in lower IT risk; reduced cost; assured "High Availability"; and other operational efficiencies.

Our presentation today will discuss these topics in detail and provide a roadmap towards achieving these "best practices".
