"Using Case Studies to Explore: "What is the 'Right' Market Share?"
"
Workshop Description:
Nearly all health care organizations develop and analyze market share data to describe positioning within a specific market or service at some point in the past. However, what most organizations and decision-makers lack is context - what should our market share really be? Mitretek Healthcare has developed a methodology utilizing the MHDC inpatient data and data from other states to address this fundamental question. What we have found for most organizations is that the "right" market share, at least close to home, is higher than it currently is.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand what standard market share analyses tell - and don't tell.
- Learn about a methodology for determining what market share your hospital should have.
- Discuss real-life case studies which explore ideal market share by:
- Size
- Hospital type (community vs. academic)
- Location
- Level of care
Speakers:
- Dennis Kennedy - Principal, Mitretek Healthcare
- Christopher T. Collins - Principal, Mitretek Healthcare
- (Moderator) Terri Ahern - Director, Market Research and Planning at Cape Cod Healthcare, Inc.
