MA-SHARE: The CIO Forum was the genesis of the MA-SHARE initiative which focuses on the development of a set of "community utility services" that facilitates clinical and administrative data exchange in Massachusetts.
MedsInfo-ED: MedsInfo-ED is a MA-SHARE project designed to deliver electronic prescription history information to hospital emergency departments.
Secure e-mail: The CIO Forum has taken a leadership role in the development of standards and a vendor certification process for S/MIME Gateways, a server-based approach to secure, encrypted e-mail.
Other MA-SHARE Projects: Under the direction of MA-SHARE, the CIO Forum is involved with the following projects: Bioterrorism Syndromic Surveillance (BSS), Electronic Health Records, Electronic Patient-Centered Communication, Pathology Database Query, and Physician Credentialing.

Historical Initiatives

IT Capital Survey: One of the IT Partner members of the CIO Forum, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGEY), conducted a survey to characterize the perspectives of CIOs / CFOs regarding capital investment in IT. The CIO / CFO survey results were presented to the CIO Forum in May 2003.
Standard Enrollment Transaction: In 2001-2002, the Consortium staff on behalf of the CIO Forum, worked with the Massachusetts employer community to develop a "Companion Guide" to the ANSI 834 standard enrollment transaction Implementation Guide.
