Governor Patrick released his payment reform proposal last year, and the Massachusetts House and Senate released their bills within the past few weeks. Massachusetts is the first state in the nation to address healthcare payment reform and cost control on this large a scale. What happens during the next few weeks and after enactment will affect every single person in the Commonwealth: providers, payers, employers, patients, and their families. MHDC CEO Ray Campbell will offer a summary of the three proposals and analyze their implications for you and your organization.

New Technology for Measuring Emotion from the MIT Media Lab

New technology is making it possible to sense and communicate several aspects of emotion in real time, through physiological modalities ranging from voice, to facial expression, to autonomic nervous system changes.

This talk will show live demonstrations of facial and autonomic sensing that was developed at the MIT Media Laboratory, and will discuss some of its limitations and capabilities for improving communication in autism, sensory processing disorders, epilepsy, customer experience measurement, and therapeutic social interactions.

Today's Speaker:

Rosalind Picard, Professor of Media Arts and Sciences, Director of Affective Computing Research, Co-Director of Autism and Communication Technology Initiative, MIT Media Lab. Chief Scientist, Co-founder, and Chairman of Affectiva, Inc.

Professor Picard's laboratory invents new solutions to provide objective measurement of emotional expression and of physiological processes involving the emotion system, including recent findings related to autism, sensory disorders, epilepsy, and sleep. Picard is also the author of the award-winning book Affective Computing.
